Recent communication with Sri Lankan authorities indicated that waiting periods would be 18 - 24 months once a couple's file has been accepted by the Sri Lankan authorities.
There is a decreasing number of children requiring intercountry adoption placements and the Sri Lankan authorities have indicated their preference for placing children up to two 2 years of age with younger couples.
