Participants required for study on birthfathers of children relinquished for adoption
The perspectives of birthfathers who relinquished their child for adoption will be the focus of a research project supported by the department. The study will examine birthfathers relinquishment, search and reunion experiences'. The results will be a valuable reference for Adoption Services Queensland staff.
Dr Nola Passmore from the University of Southern Queensland and Gary Coles from VANISH are conducting the study and are looking for men who have relinquished a child for adoption to take part.
The study will explore:
- participants background characteristics (for example age, marital status)
- the circumstances surrounding the relinquishment of the child
- ways in which the relinquishment may have impacted on the participant's life
- search and reunion experiences (if any)
- general wellbeing.
Participation is voluntary. Participants must be the biological father of a child adopted by strangers (for example not relatives or step-parents) before the child reached two years of age.
All information provided will remain confidential.
