Postgraduate scholarships

In partnership with the University of Queensland, we offer graduate bridging scholarships to people aspiring to work as a Child Safety Officer (CSO) or aspiring to work as a CSO.

Scholarships covering full tuition fees, travel and accommodation expenses associated with attending residential schools at the respective universities will be offered to successful applicants. These applicants will undertake a Graduate Certificate in Human Services (Child Protection Practice) at the University of Queensland or the Postgraduate Certificate of Child Protection Practice at James Cook University.

Who is eligible for a scholarship?

The Department of Child Safety is offering 30 scholarships to:

The scholarship program offers financial assistance to undertake a postgraduate qualification in child protection practice at selected universities. For those aspiring to become a CSO, university study will be undertaken in conjunction with a work experience program at a child safety service centre.

Successful graduates who meet all eligibility requirements will be offered employment as a CSO with our department. Child safety officers can earn up to $62,544 per annum plus generous superannuation, locality allowances and five weeks annual leave in certain locations.

We have critical staffing needs in rural and remote locations and preference will be given to applicants who are already working in rural and remote Queensland or who are willing to move to priority locations.
