Support Service case

A Support Service case refers to providing, or helping provide preventative and support services to families.

• A Support Service case is provided when it is determined that a child or young person is not in need of protection.
• The purpose of a Support Service case is to provide preventative support to children, young people and their families to reduce the likelihood of harm to a child, unborn child or young person.
• It is based on an agreement by the parents, pregnant woman or young person to work with our department, and does not require the use of a court order.

A Support Service case can also be used to enable us to continue assisting and supporting a young person in their transition from care.

Support Service cases are only short-term interventions where the child or young person remains at home or in their usual place of residence for the intervention period.
