Norelle Deeth

Norelle joined our department as Deputy Director-General in July 2004. Prior to this appointment, Norelle was Deputy Director-General, Queensland Health. As an Assistant Under-Treasurer responsible for the resources, health and community services portfolios, Norelle's earlier career with Queensland Treasury was focussed strongly on strategic policy and financial management.

In her initial career as a secondary teacher and Head of Department, Norelle established an affinity with young people and is committed to supporting staff working to protect vulnerable children and young people.

In 2001, Norelle was awarded the Queensland Telstra Business Woman of the Year Award in recognition of her lead role in the implementation of accrual output budgeting across the Queensland public sector.

Norelle has also held a number of senior Board and Council positions, including Director of the Queensland Rural Adjustment Authority and Councillor on the University of the Sunshine Coast Council. A mother of four daughters, Norelle has a firm commitment to making a positive difference in the lives of 'at risk' children in Queensland.
