Our department
The Department of Child Safety is the Queensland Government agency for child protection and adoption services. We are dedicated to protecting children and young people from harm or who are at risk of harm, and whose parents cannot provide adequate care or protection for them.
We administer the Child Protection Act 1999 and the Adoption of Children Act 1964.
We work closely with non-government and government partners in the delivery of child protection services across Queensland.
We employ a range of people to assist us in providing child protection services, including child safety officers, senior practitioners, and other frontline community workers who have experience in working with children, families and young people.
