Strategic Plan 2007-11
On 31 July the Minister and I launched the department's Strategic Plan 2007-11, the third strategic plan for the Department of Child Safety.
This strategic plan is particularly meaningful because it takes our department into a new phase. It is the first strategic plan that is not centred around the recommendations of the Blueprint.
We have completed all of the 110 recommendations of the Blueprint and, in doing so, have implemented the most widespread and comprehensive reforms in Queensland's history. Now is a time for building on the massive reforms undertaken; and for consolidation and enhancement of our services.
The Strategic Plan 2007-11 was developed in consultation with departmental, government and non-government stakeholders. It is the department's high-level reference point and will guide all other departmental planning efforts.
This new strategic plan is the vision of a more confident and mature department and gives details of what we will achieve over the next four years. I look forward to working with you to achieve our vision.
Norelle Deeth
Acting Director-General
Department of Child Safety
What is focus of the strategic plan?
The department will focus on the provision of quality services over the period 2007-11. To achieve this we have developed strategies that focus on:
Quality staff + quality practice + quality systems = quality services
- Quality staff – we will value our staff and provide better support, guidance and incentives
- Quality practice – we will enhance the safety of babies and toddlers and provide more support for families. We will better meet children’s therapeutic needs and provide them with more permanent placements. We will provide improved child protection services to Indigenous children and families
- Quality systems – we will continue to improve the processes and systems supporting quality child protection service delivery.
