Strategic Plan 2008-12

In September 2008, the Premier launched Toward Q2: Tomorrow's Queensland.

This policy articulates a new vision for the future of Queensland, including five ambitions and 10 targets to achieve by 2020, and replaces the government priorities which were the basis for the development of the Department of Child Safety Strategic Plan 2008-2012.

The Department of Child Safety will ensure that its operations during the term of this plan and into the future reflect the Government's ambitions and targets. Future plans will state our relationship to the targets and how we contribute to the Government's overall vision for the State.

On 30 June 2008, Cabinet approved the Department of Child Safety’s Strategic Plan 2008-12 (PDF 120 KB).

The strategic plan sets out our goals for a four-year period, identifies the strategies we will employ in order to achieve those goals and articulates what we expect to achieve. We will measure the success of our strategies against the key performance indicators set out in our Child Protection Performance Framework and report our achievements in our 2008-09 annual report.

The Strategic Plan 2008-12 also ensures we continue to contribute to whole-of-Government outcomes and priorities. In essence, it is the road-map that guides us towards achieving the high standards of service we all aim to deliver every day.

This Strategic Plan was developed in consultation with departmental, government and non-government stakeholders and is organised around a framework that will help us to improve our performance in four criticial areas: the quality and capacity of our people, our practice, our partnerships and the placements we provide for the children and young people in care.

I look forward to working with my staff and our service delivery partners to achieve our goals for the future.

Norelle Deeth
Director-General
Department of Child Safety
