Foster Carer Excellence Awards 2009

The annual Foster Carer Excellence Awards provide our department with an opportunity to recognise the vital role that foster and kinship carers play in Queensland's child protection system - and the enormous contribution that individual carers make to the lives of vulnerable children and their families.

The awards celebrate the dedication, skills and achievements of these people, who open their homes and their hearts to children whose lives have been afflicted by abuse and neglect.

All foster and kinship carers are eligible to be nominated for the award. Foster Carer Excellence Award. A nomination guide and form (PDF 66 KB) is available from child safety service centres and foster and kinship care services around the state.

Local nominations must be lodged with zonal offices by 23 January 2009 in order to be eligible for consideration.

Zonal award panels will each select one outstanding foster or kinship carer family in their zone. These carer families will be invited to attend an awards ceremony in Brisbane during Foster and Kinship Care Week (which begins on 8 March).

For further information about the awards, please contact Tammy Joynson, Communications Officer, Corporate Communications Branch, on 07 3224 8693.
