Foster and Kinship Care Week

Sunday 9 March to Saturday 15 March 2008

Foster and Kinship Care Week is a celebration of foster carers, kinship carers, their families and extended networks. It is also an opportunity for the community to recognise their contribution to the care of children and young people in Queensland.

The theme for 2008 - The Celebration of Foster and Kinship Care - seeks to recognise the vital role that foster and kinship carers play in strengthening the lives of the children and young people in their care, assisting them to heal and participate in day-to-day activities, and in developing their potential.

The week will be a celebration for all Queensland carers with activities taking place across the state.

Foster and kinship carers and community groups are encouraged to apply for activity grants to hold an event during the week.

Foster and Kinship Care Week is held annually from the second Sunday in March. The event is coordinated by the Foster and Kinship Care Week Committee, under the auspices of PeakCare Queensland and Foster Care Queensland.
