Who is eligible for a Foster and Kinship Carer Card?

All Approved foster and kinship carers throughout Queensland are eligible for the Foster and Kinship Carer Card.

Who can use the Foster and Kinship Carer Card?

The Foster and Kinship Carer Card must be used only by the approved carer listed on the card.

What happens when I’m no longer a carer?

The Foster and Kinship Carer Card remains the property of the Department of Child Safety and must be returned to Foster and Kinship Carer Card if approval is no longer valid.

Where can I use the Foster and Kinship Carer Card?

The card is valid only in Queensland. A full up-to-date list of participating businesses is available in the online Business Discount Directory.

What happens if my card is lost, stolen or damaged?

Simply contact your Child Safety Officer and ask them to order another Foster and Kinship Carer Card on your behalf.

What happens if I change my name?

All changes of name must be supported by documentation, either marriage certificate, driver's licence or divorce decree.

Simply contact your Child Safety Officer and request for another Foster and Kinship Carer Card with the appropriate changes on your behalf.

Does the directory list all the businesses that give cardholders discounts?

Yes. Whilst enlisting businesses is an ongoing venture, new data is added to the Online Business Discount Directory regularly.
