Education Support Plans
A good education gives children and young people the best possible start in life, leading to greater opportunities in adulthood. Children and young people in out-of-home care often have unique educational needs, and meeting these needs requires planning and support.
An Education Support Plan is developed in collaboration between our department and the Department of Education, Training and the Arts, for all children on a Child Protection Order granting custody or guardianship to the Department of Child Safety.
The plan identifies the educational goals of the child or young person in care and identifies strategies and resources needed to achieve these goals. The school principal or nominee is responsible for the development, monitoring and review of the plan.
The plan is reviewed annually, or more often if the circumstances of the child or young person change significantly.
