Missing pieces: Information to assist former residents of children's institutions to access records
The Commission of Inquiry into Abuse of Children in Queensland Institutions highlighted the importance of providing former residents of institutions with information about their time in care.
This information gives people a better sense of their identity, by adding to the story of their past and aspects of their family history.
The department is committed to providing former residents with information about themselves. Missing pieces is one of the strategies in place to meet this commitment.
This publication is designed to assist former residents by providing information about the records of institutions that have been located to this date.
The department will update this publication as additional records are located. It was last updated in February 2002.
