Community Visitors
Community Visitors are employed by the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian (CCYPCG) to visit children and young people in out-of-home care (including foster and kinship care), to advocate for them and to provide support.
Community Visitors will meet with children and young people in care every month.
They help resolve concerns by providing children and young people with information about their rights, report any concerns to our department about the quality of care provided, and make referrals to other agencies for assistance where needed.
After each visit, Community Visitors will complete a report to be given to the Commissioner to ensure action is taken, where necessary.
If considered appropriate, the Commissioner may give a copy of the report to our department, the carer, licensed care service and/or the child.
For more information, refer to Community Visitors on the CCYPCG website.
