Statement of commitment
The Statement of commitment between the Department of Child Safety, foster care services and the carers of Queensland, reflects the importance of sharing our responsibilities and respecting each other's rights in providing the necessary services that keep children and young people safe from harm and promote their well-being.
Our first priority is to provide safe, quality care for children and young people who, for many reasons, are unable to live with their parents for varying periods of time.
It is the productive partnership that we have established with foster and kinship carers in our community that enables us to provide safe and supportive family environments for these children and young people.
Society is changing rapidly, and families, including carer families, face new roles and increasing pressures.
The statement of commitment acknowledges the difficult task before us. It is an expression of our sincere determination to work together to meet the challenges of the future, to ensure that children and young people in our care have access to high-quality services which promote their emotional, physical, social and educational development.
