Info kit for children and young people in care
The Info kit is a resource for children and young people in care. It comprises seven child friendly fact sheets to provide information about key departmental process that impact on children and young people in care. They cover topics such as case plans, family group meetings, child health passports, education support plans, transition from care, matters of concern and complaints.
Topics covered include:
- Family group meeting (FGM)
- Case plan
- Education support plan (ESP)
- Child health passport (CHP)
- Transition from care (TFC)
- Matters of concern (MOC)
- Complaints
The paper-based fact sheets are packaged into a CD case and are designed to be child and young person friendly and feature easy to read language and colourful designs.
The kit was jointly produced by the CREATE Foundation and the Department of Child Safety, on the recommendation of the CREATE Foundation's Be Heard report.
The production of the kit involved consultation with children and young people, Foster Care Queensland, PeakCare, the Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Child Protection Partnership and Legal Aid.
