Funding
What services are funded?
In 2008-2009, Child Safety Services’ has allocated $142.9 million grant funding to 83 non-government organisations. These organisations provide approximately 279 services or programs across Queensland, to meet the needs of children and young people subject to statutory intervention and their families and carers.
Currently, Child Safety Services is providing annual grant funding of:
- $106.5 million to 160 placement services
- $21.2 million to 73 support services
- $12.01 million to 36 Recognised Entity services
- $2.9 million to 10 partnership services.
The key grant funding areas are:
- partnership services - funding is provided for representative networks and peak bodies, specific purpose funding (for range of specific events and projects on a one-off basis such as Child Protection Week or Foster and Kinship Care Week), and to support Child Protection Partnership Forum activities.
- placement services - funding is provided for services relating to overnight care to children and young people such as foster and kinship care services, specialist foster care services, specific response care services, residential care, therapeutic residential services, Indigenous safe house services and supported independent living services.
- recognised entity services - funding is provided for Recognised Entities to work with and consult families about decisions and issues relating to the care and protection of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.
- support services - funding is provided for counselling and intervention services, family intervention services, sexual abuse counselling services and transition from care services.
