Surrogacy legislation now administered by Department of Justice and Attorney-General

In May 2009, responsibility for administration of the Surrogate Parenthood Act 1988 (PDF 311 KB) was transferred to the Department of Justice and Attorney-General.

The Queensland Government has released a position paper outlining a model for the decriminalisation of altruistic surrogacy and the transfer of parentage. More information is available through the Department of Justice and Attorney-General’s website.
