Legislation
The Department of Child Safety administers the following legislation. This legislation governs the activities of our department, providing the framework within which we operate to protect Queensland's children and young people:
- Adoption of Children Act 1964
- Child Protection Act 1999
- Child Protection (International Measures) Act 2003
- Childrens Court Act 1992 (ss 20(1)(f), 20(2)(a)(ii)) - jointly administered with the Minister for Communities, Minister for Disability Services Queensland, Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships, Minister for Seniors and Youth.
- Family Services Act 1987 - jointly administered with the Minister for Communities, Minister for Disability Services Queensland, Minister for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Partnerships, Minister for Seniors and Youth.
- Surrogate Parenthood Act 1988
