Blue cards
Under new laws contained in the Child Safety (Carers) Amendment Bill 2006, all foster carers, kinship carers and their adult household members and certain persons associated with licensed care services (persons in regulated employment) will be required to hold a blue card issued by the Commission for Children and Young People and Child Guardian (CCYPCG).

Authorisations
An authorisation form is used when the applicant already holds a current blue card. The authorisation form permits the Commission to inform the department of:
- the current status of a blue card application
- the validity of a blue card
- any changes to the status of a blue card application.
All departmental carers and the adult members of the carer households must either apply for a blue card or authorise the Commission to inform the department on the status of their current blue card.
