Our Minister
The Honourable Phil Reeves, Minister for Child Safety and Minister for Sport.
The Hon. Phil Reeves, Minister for Child Safety and Minister for Sport, is committed to the vital work of protecting Queensland's most vulnerable children and young people.
As an experienced Member of Parliament and a former Parliamentary Secretary, he brings to the Child Safety portfolio a broad experience of working in the community sector, particularly in youth programs.
As the Member for Mansfield since 1998, Minister Reeves championed the establishment of the pioneering Mt Gravatt PCYC. This organisation provides recreation opportunities, a drop in centre and innovative programs, for local children.
Mr Reeves also holds a Bachelor of Leisure Management from Griffith University and has hands on experience operating a small business in sports and community management and marketing.
Mr Reeves' focus has always been about creating opportunities for children and young people to reach their full potential.
He is excited about the synergies of the two areas under his guidance and he will be focusing on giving children and young people the skills to reach their full potential.
As the father of three young children, he is aware of the important role that parenting plays in shaping our future generations.
He is committed to supporting Queensland families at risk and protecting Queensland's children from harm.
Minister Reeves is looking forward to further developing a world class child safety system as part of the State Government's Toward Q2 ambition to build safer, fairer Queensland communities.
