The Child Protection Statewide Partnership Taskforce held its 9th meeting on 8 April 2005 in Brisbane. The Taskforce, chaired by the Deputy Director General, Department of Child Safety and comprising representatives from Queensland Government agencies and the non-government sector, held discussions on matters relating to the child protection system and the Blueprint for reform.
This Communique provides some of the outcomes of these discussions.
1. Quality Assurance Working Group
Three working party meetings have been held to date. Review of literature, conduct of interviews and analysis of research has been completed.
2. Legislation Stage 2
The Taskforce discussed the implications of the Stage 2 Legislation on non-government service providers.
The discussion focused upon the legislative provisions for information sharing and service coordination between agencies.
Other items discussed
- Taskforce members endorsed the Evaluation Framework.
- The Taskforce discussed the frequency of Taskforce meetings given the establishment of two working groups. It was agreed that the meeting schedule would be revised with meetings occurring every six weeks.
- SCAN Evaluation Report was circulated to Taskforce members.
- Six of the seven Zonal Planning and Partnerships Officers have been appointed. An induction for the Zonal Planning and Partnership Officers was held on 6 and 7 April 2005. The purpose of the induction was to begin the process of developing a shared framework for zonal planning and partnership arrangement. Support structures and training needs were also identified.
