Licensing of care services
Placement services, also known as alternative care or out-of-home care services, provide places and support for children and young people who are unable to live at home.
Our department has the authority to license services providing out-of-home care placements to children and young people subject to statutory intervention under the provisions of the Child Protection Act 1999.
The purpose of licensing is to ensure that placement of placement services provided to children and young people are consistent with the legislation.
