CSPM_Jul_2009 updates

Details of the following two releases are outlined below:

Final release - 22 July 2009

This release includes:

Over the next few weeks, any remaining links to old procedures and resources will be systematically removed and the word ‘department’ and ‘departmental’ will be replaced throughout the CSPM.

Eighth release - 13 July 2009

This release includes one revised chapter that is made up of the following general procedures:

Chapter 10: General - Practice changes

The above procedures have been put into the revised format. Not all procedures include practice changes. Only the procedures with practice changes have been referred to below.

10.2 Staff safety and well-being

The practice changes included in this procedure are outlined below. 

10.5 Referral for active intervention services

The content has been updated to reflect current referral pathways and criteria, including: 

10.6 The role of the Child Safety After Hours Service Centre

The content has been updated to reflect: a higher threshold for CSAHSC to respond for ongoing intervention cases. The amended criteria are:

10.10 The video taping or recording of staff of Child Safety Services

The requirement to record a critical incident report in the following circumstances has been removed:

10.13 Complaints management

This content has been amended to reflect the current process undertaken by the Central Complaints and Review Unit. It includes:

This procedure contains the information previously found in the Interstate matters chapter, with the following changes:

10.16 Family law courts

This procedure contains the following changes:

10.17 International child protection matters and the Hague Convention

This procedure includes information that was previously in the Family law courts chapter, along with new information in relation to managing international child protection matters, and the role of Court Services Unit in this process.

10.18 The review of child deaths

This content has been amended to reflect the current process undertaken by the Complaints, Case Review and Investigation Branch, to review the involvement of Child Safety Services with a child, following the death of a child, which meets the review criteria.
