Protecting children: an inquiry into abuse of children in foster care
The January 2004 Crime and Misconduct Commission (CMC) report, Protecting children: an inquiry into abuse of children in foster care, was the result of a comprehensive inquiry into the foster care system in Queensland.
The report contains 110 recommendations for reform, including the call for a new government department - the Department of Child Safety - dedicated exclusively to protecting the rights of Queensland children, particularly those in foster care.
A 28-page report summary is also available, which summarises the findings of the inquiry and lists the recommendations.
